Actress who starred in Korea’s “Boys Over Flowers” “has appeared more than 12 times without pay”… Korean “Boys Over Flowers” star actress is in a bitter dispute with her former agency over a “grudge against her divorced husband”.
She lost the second trial as well.
On February 8, the Seoul High Court dismissed Hye-sun’s lawsuit against her former agency H, seeking 107 million won (approximately 12 million yen) in damages, following the first trial in June of last year. Hye-sung is not only an actress, but also an actress.
Hye-sung is a multi-talented actress, film director, novelist, and singer. Why is she in a legal battle with her former agency?
Hye-sung and her former agency have been at loggerheads since around ’19. At the time, Hye-sun claimed that she was forced to appear on H’s video channel more than a dozen times without compensation. Although her videos received more than 10 million views, she claimed that she was not paid for her appearances and that she was harassed by having her favorite scenes intentionally cut from her videos. Hye-sung claimed that he had promised to receive half of the proceeds.
H, on the other hand, claimed that Hye-sung had breached the contract. They claimed that the office suffered a great deal of damage due to the loss of trust, and applied for damages on the contrary. Hye-sung paid a certain amount of money and demanded that the contract be terminated,” said a reporter for a sports newspaper.
Office prioritizes ex-husband’s work
The two parties’ claims were in direct conflict. In September 19, the Korean Arbitration Board intervened and offered Hye-sung to pay 35 million won (approx. 3.9 million yen) to H. Hye-sung paid the same amount, but he was not satisfied. She filed a lawsuit against H, claiming that she did not receive the fees for her appearances on the video channel and advertising revenue.
The problem is not confined to Hye-sung and H. The background of the lawsuit is said to be the relationship between Hye-sung and her ex-husband, Ahn Jae-hyun, who divorced after a bitter exposé battle.
They got married in May ’16, and were initially a friendly couple. They also introduced their lovey-dovey newlywed life on variety shows. The relationship deteriorated around ’19 when Hye-sung started fighting with H. Hye-sung claimed that Jae-hyun was having an affair with another actress and revealed the contents of her cell phone messages and other information. Jae-hyun thoroughly refuted Hye-sung’s claims, quoting Hye-sung’s statements, and the couple divorced in July 2008.
Jae-hyun belongs to H. Hye-sung had expressed her dissatisfaction that H was giving priority to Jae-hyun’s work, and her lawsuit against H must have been based on her resentment over her messy divorce from Jae-hyun, as she often expressed her resentment toward her ex-husband on SNS.
Hye-sun’s claim was not accepted, and she lost in the second trial as well. Her future response will be closely watched.
