Hwang, who also played in Japan

While the allegations of sexual assault against Japan’s national soccer player Junya Ito reported in the February 8 issue of Shukan Shincho (February 8) have been making waves, there is also a big commotion in South Korea.

On February 6, Nikkan Sports reported a series of scandals surrounding Hwang Wi-jo, 31, a former South Korean national team player and ace midfielder whose loan transfer to Montpellier of the French league had been off the table.

On January 15, the Seoul Police Department announced that it had filed a case against Hwang for violation of the Sexual Violence Punishment Law. The charge was that he filmed an indecent act against a former girlfriend without her consent. The video was released to the public, and the female victim held a press conference to accuse Huang of “illegal activities. The police repeatedly asked Hwang to appear before them, but he did not comply, so they banned him from leaving the country.

In an article distributed on November 30 last year, FRIDAY Digital reported in detail on Hwang’s troubles, which caused a stir not only in the soccer world but also in Korea as a whole. We would like to reproduce the article and look back at the circumstances and background of the incident (some corrections have been made).

[Joon] “You said, ‘Don’t film me! I said, “No, don’t film me!

You clearly said, “No, don’t film me!” I clearly said, “No, don’t film me!

I want you to delete the video.

Why is there still a video of me?

The victim’s side disclosed the audio data on November 23 last year, and her complaint was vividly conveyed.

The former Korean national team soccer player, Hwang, is embroiled in an obscenity scandal. A former girlfriend claims that she was filmed without her consent when they had sexual relations. Hwang denies all allegations, saying that he did not film her illegally. The incident began about five months ago.

In June, a woman named “A,” who claimed to be his “ex-girlfriend,” revealed on a social networking site that Hwang was having sexual relations with several women and that she had filmed him during their sexual relationship. Hwang immediately refuted the claims, saying that the videos were not taken improperly. He filed a complaint against A on charges of defamation and intimidation.

In response to the complaint, the police took A into custody on November 16. It seemed that this would end the commotion. ……
