Ryuji Harada & Ai: “The Reason We Got Married After Three Infidelities”

That’s what actor Ryuji Harada, 51, declared in his dignified montsuki hakama. In May 2007, his affair with two women came to light in a report in a weekly magazine. At that time, his wife, Ai (48), said, “Harada, you’re out! Harada is out!
Two and a half years have passed since the report of the affair. The Harada’s celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary this year and held a Shinto wedding ceremony at Kodansha (Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo) on November 22, “Good Couple’s Day,” to commemorate the release of Ai’s book, “Why We Won’t Part.
We got married in December 2001, but we didn’t have a ceremony or exchange rings, just took wedding photos. This time, they wanted to celebrate 20 years of marriage and at the same time help promote Ai’s book,” said an entertainment reporter from a sports newspaper.
At the press conference after the ceremony, Harada showed her newly exchanged wedding ring and said, “It’s not that I didn’t want to wear a ring, you know? He laughed. In his book, Ai wrote about why she loved her husband even though he was having an affair, and when Harada read the book, he thanked his wife again and cried. When asked by the press, “Are there any ‘disturbing developments’ at the moment? Harada replied, “There is no such thing as being photographed by a weekly magazine anymore! He assured them.
