Jang Won-yeong visited Japan last November for her own brand event.

Walking with a stiff expression on her face while being guarded by SPs is Jang Won-yong (19), ace of the six-member Korean girl group “IVE.

The group debuted in ’21, and their first single album, “ELEVEN,” debuted at No. 1 on a music program within seven days of its debut, and the group had five consecutive big hits, including an appearance on the NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen in ’22.

Music producer J.Y. Park (Park Jin-young, 52) praised Won-yeong on the YouTube program “Bem Family” last November, saying, “Everything from meeting him to filming and saying ‘thank you’ afterwards, he is a ‘true idol. He praised her as a “true idol.” (Editor of a music magazine)

Although Won-yeong is steadily building her career as an “idol,” she has long been plagued by slander.

Won-yeong’s career as an “idol” has been going well, but she has long been plagued by slander. Last October, Won-yeon filed a lawsuit for damages against some YouTubers for spreading falsehoods and malicious posts.

Won-yeon filed the lawsuit against the Korean YouTube channel “De-geek Gulag. The channel has often caused controversy by mass-producing and spreading various rumors about idols.

The accused YouTube star had a part-time worker write comments such as, “Wonyeon has been a bully since elementary school, and one of her classmates pulled out six of her teeth due to school violence. The person who wrote these comments later apologized for the hoax, saying, “I didn’t think it would become such a big problem. At first, the “De-Otaku Gulag” also targeted BTS and other groups.

On January 17, the Seoul Central District Court handed down a judgment ordering the defendant to pay 100 million won (approximately 10 million yen).

Wonhyun came to Japan in November of last year in the midst of such an uproar. She was in Shibuya to appear at a pop-up event for AMUSE, a Korean beauty brand for which she serves as an advertising model, but as she left the store, Won-yeon’s expression was stiff and downcast. He only bailed out his fans and did not say a word.

Two days after the verdict, the YouTubers filed a notice of appeal against the decision. The future of the trial remains unpredictable. Japanese fans can only hope that the case will be resolved without incident and that they will be able to see Won-yeon’s smiling face again.
