Former Medical Student Accused of Assaulting and Filming Female Students Stuns Court with Unbelievable Testimony

A former medical student who sexually assaulted a female student and filmed the crime has been convicted.

At a sentencing hearing held on January 25 at the Otsu District Court in Shiga Prefecture, B (26) a former male student at Shiga University of Medical Science, was sentenced to five years in prison for the crime of forcible sexual intercourse. Defendant C (28) was sentenced to two years and six months in prison.

 

Defendant A (26), who conspired to commit the crime, was sentenced to five years and six months in prison last January. Both defendants B and C also pleaded not guilty, stating that she did it on her own initiative and I thought she was consenting to it.

She was taken into a room forcibly. 

 

The incident took place on March 15, 2022. The three defendants, all former Shiga Medical University students, invited two women they knew, including the victim, Ms. D. The five of them had been drinking. When they got on the elevator, the defendant’s attitudes changed drastically.

He stood in front of Ms. D, threatened her with sexual intercourse, and dragged her into his room when she refused. Ms. D said, I can’t do it! I don’t like it!,  but the defendants grabbed her arms, forcibly removed her clothes, and had sexual intercourse with her. The defendants took turns assaulting Mr. D. The crime continued until the early of the next day, and the defendants apparently recorded videos of the assault on their smartphones.” (National newspaper social affairs reporter)

Ms. D immediately called the police and called the Sexual Crimes Hotline. The incident was discovered and the three defendants were arrested.

The trial revealed a series of despicable behaviors by the defendants. According to the prosecution, they had been holding drinking parties for the purpose of sexual assault for some time. and had been sharing videos of their sexual acts.

The defendant’s family is said to be a doctor’s office in Hiroshima Prefecture. After graduating from a well-known preparatory school in the prefecture, he went on to Shiga Medical University. At the university, he joined the soccer club and became vice captain. I heard that he was a mood-maker on the team, making everyone around him laugh.

In court, defendant A said, “I deeply hurt (the victim). I am sorry,” he said, expressing remorse. However, when asked by the prosecutor about his request for sexual intercourse with Ms. D in the elevator and her refusal, he avoided answering the question, saying, I don’t remember.

Defendant A was arrested for assaulting a female student and expelled from Shiga Medical University. The defense sought a suspended sentence, claiming that “it is assumed that there was no clear refusal from (Ms. D),” but the court of first instance did not accept the request.
