On November 29, the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office arrested Hidetoshi Tanaka, 74, the chancellor of Nihon University, on suspicion of violating the Income Tax Act. He allegedly failed to declare money he received from a business partner of Nihon University and evaded taxes of about 53 million yen. This is the first time I&#8217;ve ever seen such a thing. Mr. Tanaka was born in 1946 in Goshogawara City, Aomori Prefecture. He was the third son of a farming family, and after attending a local public high school, he entered Nihon University in 1965. Masato Uchida, who was the coach of the football team at the time, and Mr. Inoue, who worked closely with him, were members of the Tanaka faction, so it is thought that Mr. Inoue&#8217;s reinstatement was due to the wishes of Mr. Tanaka and the discernment of those around him.
