<p> By December 9, Koiwa Police Station of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department arrested Junichi Takebayashi, 74, an unemployed resident of Edogawa Ward, Tokyo, on suspicion of assault. He allegedly severed the left ear of Ms. A, a woman in her 80s, with a kitchen knife on the premises of her apartment. The suspect Takebayashi admitted to the crime, saying &#8220;I did it.</p>
<p><span class="strongInContent"> The alleged incident occurred at around 11:00 p.m. on December 8. The suspect, perhaps bothered by the noise coming from Ms. A&#8217;s house in the next room, tapped on the wall and said, &#8216;Shut up! and banged on the wall. When Ms. A opened the door, the Takebayashi suspect forced his way in and attacked her.</span></p>
<p><span class="strongInContent"> When Ms. A screamed, &#8220;Help! and the Takebayashi suspect&#8217;s shouts of &#8220;Hey! A neighbor called 110 after hearing Ms. A&#8217;s screams of &#8220;Help!
