The figure staring into the distance with large eyes had an overwhelming air of dignity about it.
At around 8:30 pm in early October, I spotted a slender beauty at a pedestrian crossing near the Yokohama District Court. It was actress Satomi Ishihara, 36, with slender short hair and full lips. Around her, staff members were moving around, and it appeared that she was in the middle of filming some kind of drama.
 
After a while, actor Kazuya Kamenashi (37), who appeared to be her co-star, appeared and began filming a scene in which he and Ishihara cross a pedestrian crossing side by side.
Ishihara announced a hiatus from performing after giving birth to her first child in 2022. After an absence of about a year, she began filming this time around July. Details of the drama have not yet been announced, but it appears to be a serial drama scheduled to air in the April 2024 season. If so, it will be her first starring role in a drama in three years.
 
“An actress as popular as Ishihara would be able to choose a drama series &#8220;suited to her&#8221; as her comeback drama. In addition, filming for a drama series usually starts one to two months before the drama airs, but this drama started about nine months earlier than usual. This is probably the result of consideration for Ishihara, who is trying to balance childcare and work, as well as Kamenashi&#8217;s schedule during her solo live show.”
The day will soon come when she will make a &#8220;full comeback&#8221; with her newfound charm as a mother actress.
