Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’ XF-2A, Prototype 1 (63-0001, later renumbered). Developed jointly by Japan and the U.S. as the successor to the F-1, it made its first flight on October 7, 1995 (Heisei 7). Four prototypes, including this aircraft, were deployed to the Flight Development Test Wing at Gifu Air Base.
