During his Shinki Gekijo days, he appeared in the role of the ronin “Shebiguchi Ikkaku” in “Tenamonya Sandonogasa” starring Makoto Fujita. He was also known for his roles in “Hidjyo ni Kibishii~! and “Help me, Chodai! and “Help me, Chodai!” gags that made him instantly popular among the audience.

After graduating from high school, he became a research student for a Teigeki musical, and made his debut in the operetta “Red Carpet. He became popular not only as a comedic actor but also as a commercial character, using his singing ability comparable to that of an opera singer.

In 1984, Mr. Zaitsu took on the role of the character, and his commercials in which he shouts in a strange voice, “Kotte…chan! became very popular, and “Kotecchan” is said to have exploded in sales.
