The aura of the “legendary beauty” was still alive and well at her first drama shooting in 30 years.
In the middle of the day in late September, actress Goto Kumiko (49) was filming the drama “Face” (TV Asahi) in Shinjuku.
Goto said, “I am starring in this film with Emi Takei (29), who is the junior partner at my office. She lives in Switzerland with her husband, a former F1 racer who is now said to have assets of 40 billion yen, and although this was her first drama appearance in a long time, she was able to handle the filming without difficulty on the set.
At the production announcement, Gok Mi described herself as a “ghost member of Oscar. Why did she make a comeback now? Entertainment reporter Masako Hasegawa says, “It was a way to repay her debt to her agency, Oscar.
“I think it’s largely to repay a favor to her agency, Oscar. Oscar still treats Gokumi as a top actress, listing her at the top of the talent introduction page on their official website. She must have thought she could contribute to the agency by appearing in a high-profile Seicho Matsumoto film.”
There is a reason why Goto was chosen for the lead role despite the long blank period.
As typified by Ryoko Yonekura’s “Doctor X,” TV Asahi and Oscar have always had strong ties. However, there has been a string of departures of talent from Oscar, including Yonekura. By having Ms. Goto appear on the show at this time, we believe that the connection with TV Asahi can be strengthened once again.
Even as she nears her fiftieth birthday, Gokumi’s presence has not waned.
