The woman’s complaint reportedly reads something to this effect.
On October 4, the Korean media outlet TV Daily reported that a former member of a legendary male group was sued by a woman in her twenties, A. The lawsuit was filed by Hwarang, 27, who was in charge of rapping in the seven-member group “SPECTRUM.
SPECTRUM debuted in May 2006 with the album “Be Born. With their fast-paced performances and refreshing visuals, they quickly became popular artists in Korea. However, in July of the same year, one of the members passed away.
When the new coronavirus made their activities difficult, their agency announced the termination of all members’ contracts and the dissolution of the group in July 2008. The dissolution of the group only two years after its formation came as a shock to fans. Although the members are active in their respective fields, the group is still very popular in Korea.
After the breakup of “SPECTRUM,” Hwarang worked as an actor. Why was the former member of the legendary group sued?
The former member of the legendary group, Mr. A, who filed the lawsuit, and Hwarang met through SNS in July of this year. After their first meeting in Seoul at the end of that month, Hwarang allegedly invited Ms. A to his home. After drinking alcohol at Hwarang’s house, Ms. A became intoxicated. Before she knew it, she fell asleep.
When Ms. A woke up to the sound of a camera being operated, she found that her clothes had been removed. Ms. A protested that she had been stripped naked and filmed without her consent, but Hwarang threatened to sue her for stalking. Ms. A, who has suffered serious psychological damage, is reportedly receiving treatment at a hospital.
When the lawsuit was filed by Ms. A, Hwarang had just finished filming an online drama. However, when the trouble became apparent, the production company cut all the scenes in which Hwarang appeared. However, when the trouble was revealed, the production company announced that it would cut all the scenes in which Hwarang appeared and reshoot the filming.
After the trouble was revealed, Hwarang’s SNS has been closed and he has not made any official comments (as of October 9). Hwarang has finally started to build up his career as an actor after the group’s breakup, but it seems that he will be under the severe scrutiny of his fans in the future.
The legendary star’s troubles have caused nothing but ripples in the Korean entertainment industry. A series of advertisements in which Hwarang appeared have also been terminated.
