<p> With these words, the man pulled the woman&#8217;s hand and tried to take her to a nearby station. The woman told him that she had forgotten something, caught him off guard, and fled. She rushed to the nearest police box and reported the sexual assault.</p>

<p> On September 20, Tama-Chuo Police Station of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department arrested Mitsuo Suzuki, 60, of Tama City, Tokyo, on suspicion of indecent assault and non-consensual sexual intercourse. The suspect is an employee of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries. He denied some of the charges, saying, &#8220;I admit that there was an act, but not the part where there was no consent.</p>
<p><strong> The incident occurred on the afternoon of August 7. Suzuki, who had been drinking alcohol and was intoxicated, approached Ms. A, a woman in her 20s whom he did not know, at a commercial establishment in Tama City. He then grabbed her hand and took her into a multipurpose restroom. They held her captive for about 30 minutes. He is alleged to have sexually assaulted her.</strong></p>
<p><strong> After leaving the restroom, the suspect took Ms. A to the nearest station, where she rushed to the police box, revealing the incident. Ms. A told the police, &#8220;I went there because I thought [the suspect] was in trouble.</strong></p>
<h2> She couldn&#8217;t control her sexual desire.</h2>
<p> In recent years, there have been a series of indecent assaults by national public officials. The following are the main troubles.</p>

<p> In October 2010, a Shibuya Ward official in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of quasi-forcible sexual intercourse. He is said to have sexually assaulted a woman he was dating when he made her drink milk tea containing a sleep inducing drug and become disoriented. He told the investigators, &#8220;I had a lot of sexual desire and could not control it. There is no doubt that he had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.</p>
<p> In January of this year, an elite METI bureaucrat in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of indecent assault. A man was watching a movie at an Internet cafe with a woman acquaintance on Christmas night, when he put drugs into her body just as she left her seat. When she was unable to resist, he allegedly touched her.</p>
<p><strong> The one thing they all had in common was that they were all serious about their work and had no problems in their jobs. While they were doing their jobs well, they may have been under a lot of stress. However, that does not mean that indecent behavior toward women is acceptable. It is outrageous to sexually assault a woman for the sake of one&#8217;s own stress and desires.</strong></p>
<p> In response to the incident involving the 60-year-old employee mentioned at the beginning of this article, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (MAFF) commented, &#8220;If true, it is truly regrettable. If it is true, we will deal with it strictly.</p>
