Why Daisuke Horai, a well-known weatherman on “Miyaneya,” wrote a unique picture book “Sora no Dobutsuen” (Animal Park in the Sky)
Toshio Ishikawa, entertainment reporter, tells the inside story of the showbiz world: ......

He once brought a promotional video he had shot himself to a TV station, but most of them rejected it.
However, his efforts paid off, and he now plays the important role of weathercaster for the nationally broadcast programs “Miyaneya” and “Wake Up” (both on Nippon Television Network Corporation), as well as the Kansai local program “Kansai Joho Net ten.” (Yomiuri Television).
He is an idea man who has been trying to make weather forecasts easy to understand even after he was assigned to the program, and has been writing the next day’s weather forecast in crayon on “ten.” to make it easier for children to understand. Although the program was only broadcast for about 10 seconds, he spent an hour and a half to two hours drawing the next day’s weather in crayon.
I don’t think I have any artistic ability, but I try to make it easy to understand. I don’t think I am good at drawing,” he laughed.
He laughs, “I’m not a good illustrator,” but his illustrations are quite tasteful.
In the 13 years since he became a forecaster, he has created more than 2,500 illustrations. In 2004, he published a book titled “Weather Forecaster Horai-san’s Hee~~ is Full of Hee~! Weather Guide” (Shufu To Seikatsu Sha) based on his drawings.
I rewrote the book four times, and it came out exactly the way I wanted it to be. I want parents and children to look at it together. I think I have conveyed what I wanted to convey.
I think I’ve conveyed what I wanted to say,” he said confidently.
I know you are all busy, but have you ever stopped for five minutes to look up at the sky and see the clouds? The sky you encounter is your treasure at that moment.
Mr. Horai told us. I see, the clouds I saw on the Shinkansen can change their shape in an instant.
From now on, I will keep the clouds I saw at that moment in my mind. I wonder if it would be a dream if I took a picture of it ……(laugh).
