Maui, Hawaii Fire Reminds Us of Koji Tamaki and Hiroko Yakushimaru’s Wedding and Kiyoko Suizenji’s “Luxurious Garden Party

Toshio Ishikawa, entertainment reporter, reports on the entertainment world: “The other side of the story: ……
The wildfires on the Hawaiian island of Maui burned down the tourist town of Lahaina.
Whenever I see that image, I think of that place where nature was beautiful. So, I am praying for the return of that Lahaina, not to say the same old Lahaina.
Those were the days when TV stations had ample budgets for “wide shows. The shows had a number of dedicated reporters.
The show had a number of exclusive reporters, and the show went to Hawaii so much that it was called “Hawaii for entertainers.
Many celebrities went to Hawaii. Not only for weddings and honeymoons, but also for passionate love trips.
Of course, the wide variety of shows that had the money to cover the New Year’s holidays, such as the Honolulu airport stakeout, were also a tradition.
Celebrities arrived at the Honolulu airport knowing that the media would be there. It was a race to the finish.
Of course, the main coverage was in Honolulu on the island of Oahu, but there was coverage of other islands as well. There was not much hari-komi coverage at the Honolulu airport, but of course I went to other islands as well.
The first time I went to Lahaina, Maui, on business was in January 1991. It was the wedding of singer Koji Tamaki and actress Hiroko Yakushimaru.
If I remember correctly, the hotel poolside at Kapalua Bay on Maui was chosen as the venue for the press conference. The blue ocean and refreshing breeze made it a beautiful setting, different from Honolulu.
Tamaki and Yakushimaru were married after two years of dating, but their marriage ended after seven years due to a conflict with Yakushimaru’s family.
There was also this incident.
It was raining heavily in Honolulu, where they were staying. At that time, he received a call from singer Kiyoko Suizenji and her husband, who were enjoying their vacation in Maui.
We are going to have a party in the garden of the hotel.
They said, “It’s going to be a party in the garden of our hotel. They said it was a beautiful sunny day on Maui. We have golf the next day.
They asked me to join them for golf the next day.
He asked me to play golf with him. I repeatedly declined, but Mr. Suizenji said
I had invited some sports journalists and music critics from Tokyo. Please enjoy yourself.
I couldn’t refuse the invitation and decided to go to Maui as well.
The sky was blue during the day and full of stars at night. It was a beautiful garden party held in such an environment. I’m a poor person,
I wondered how much it would cost.
I was thinking about money (laughs).
I don’t remember much, but the tables at the party were lined with bottles of caviar. I had gout at the time, but I had never eaten so much caviar in my life. In addition, I clearly remember receiving leftover caviar as souvenirs from the party.
However, in 2008, Mr. Suizenji divorced. The couple’s marriage ended after 32 years.
I wonder how many trips to Hawaii they made after that due to Shintaro Katsu’s drug problems and other problems. I remember with nostalgia the days when the “Wide Show” budget was available.
Nearly a month has passed since the Maui wildfires started, killing more than 100 people and releasing the names of the 388 people who are missing, but there is still a possibility that the number could increase. The damage is so great that the extent of the damage itself has yet to be determined. I can’t help but pray that that beautiful Oahu will return as soon as possible – even if it is just for a day.
