In mid-July, the arrival lobby of Haneda Airport was crowded with fans waiting for Masami Nagasawa (36). On that day, Nagasawa was at Hakodate Racecourse (Hokkaido), where she was presenting an award at the G3 Hakodate Kinen.
Nagasawa has been JRA’s promotional character of the year since 2010, and every time she visits the track as a presenter, the number of visitors increases sharply. On the day of the event, the Nagasawa effect brought about 15,000 visitors, a 169.6% increase over the previous year, and the area around the racetrack was jammed with cars and other vehicles from the morning, forcing the press to change parking spaces” (sports newspaper reporter).
Nagasawa was wearing a cool one-piece dress with a floral pattern at the ceremony, but when she landed at Haneda Airport, she was wearing a sleeveless elegantly designed one-piece and a mask. Surrounded by female staff, she appeared with her face down so as not to stand out, but her elegant appearance made the arrival lobby quiet for a moment. The crowd of waiting fans rushed to see her, and for a moment there was a commotion, but Nagasawa, guarded by female staff members, seemed a little tired, bowed her head and walked quickly away without a smile.
Even at that moment, the fans seemed to be very satisfied, and sighs of “beautiful…” escaped from many of them. During the talk show, Nagasawa also revealed that he had purchased a ticket at UMACA, where he serves as a PR ambassador.
My main choice was Dovene (No. 4),” he said. With Yutaka Takeshi riding, I was hoping he would do well.
Unfortunately, he did not win the race, finishing eighth. I don’t think he was still in shock from the race, but he had a talk show under the summer sky and then went home later in the day. The overcrowded schedule must have made him a little tired.
