NBA Superstar Derrick Rose enjoys Japan! He was spotted and photographed scurrying around with a camera in Harajuku.
At lunchtime in mid-July, a foreign man was walking along a street near Takeshita-dori Avenue under the blazing hot sun, scurrying about with a camera in both hands, looking like a curiosity. He was Derrick Rose, 34, a current NBA player.
He joined the Chicago Bulls in 2008 as the first overall pick. Despite his position as a point guard, he was an innovative player with explosive offensive ability, and in 2011 he became the youngest player ever to win the MVP award at the age of 22 years and 6 months, breaking the record for the first time in 42 years.
He was plagued by repeated injuries and bounced around from team to team, but on July 1, 2011, he signed a two-year contract with the Memphis Grizzlies. He is currently on an off-season vacation with his family in Japan.
Rose enjoyed shopping with his family and bought a rainbow cheese sandwich, a Harajuku specialty. While he was there, he always had his Sony mirrorless camera in his hand and was constantly snapping away like a “camera kid.
On July 3, he toured the Kakegawa factory of Otsuka Tea Manufacturing in Kakegawa City, Shizuoka Prefecture, with his wife and children. The company’s SNS showed Rose wearing a white coat with a net over her head and intently observing tea leaves. She also visited “TeamLab Planets TOKYO (Koto-ku, Tokyo)” and seemed to be enjoying her sightseeing in Japan.
She must have had more than enough rest.
