<p> This is what the man confided to an acquaintance he met shortly after the crime.</p>

<p> At around 7:00 a.m. on July 16, Omori Police Station of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department made an emergency arrest of Kentaro Miyuki, 21, of Ota Ward, Tokyo, a suspect with an unknown occupation, on suspicion of attempted murder. On the previous day, March 15, he had assaulted a female acquaintance, Ms. Maira Komatsu (19), at her apartment in the same ward. It is believed that he attempted to murder her.</p>
<p><strong> The suspect, Miyuki, confesses the crime to a male friend whom he met immediately after the incident. The man was appalled. He and his mother consulted a nearby police box. Upon receiving the call, an Omori police officer visited the suspect&#8217;s room and found Ms. Komatsu lying on her back on a futon in the Japanese-style room.</strong></p>
<p><strong> Komatsu-san was confirmed dead on the spot. There was no trauma or bleeding from the weapon, but numerous bruise-like discolorations were observed on his face, neck, and shoulders. When the police found the body, the suspect, Miyuki, was not at the scene, perhaps having fled, but he was taken into custody the next morning. He was taken into custody the next morning, leading to his emergency arrest.</strong></p>
<h2> A part-time job at a restaurant was the impetus for a relationship.</h2>
<p> When questioned by the police, Miyuki explained that he did not intend to kill the suspect. He also said that he &#8220;got into an argument and strangled her.</p>

<p> What was the relationship between Miyuki and Komatsu?</p>
<p><strong> They worked part-time at the same restaurant. They met several years ago and were dating. They were so close that Ms. Komatsu frequently went to Mr. Miyuki&#8217;s room. However, they separated in June of this year.</strong></p>
<p><strong> After their separation, the two continued to live about a 10-minute walk apart. Since the suspect Miyuki used the word &#8220;girlfriend&#8221; for Ms. Komatsu even after the crime, there may have been some kind of trouble over their relationship. However, the police had not received any consultation from the two before the incident.</strong></p>
<p> According to neighbors, Miyuki was not a gregarious type of person.</p>
<p><strong> He was not the social type,&#8221; said a neighbor. &#8220;He seemed to be a bit of a rascal, dyed his hair silver, and so on. They didn&#8217;t know what kind of work he did or what kind of life he led.</strong></p>
<p> How did a young woman lose her life, and what could have been the worst possible outcome? The police are investigating the detailed relationship between the suspect and Ms. Komatsu.</p>
