I wasn’t satisfied with just taking videos, and I couldn’t stop myself from wanting to touch the woman’s breasts and legs,” said Suwa.
The man admitted the charge when questioned by the police.
On July 12, the Itabashi Police Department arrested Takahiro Suwa, 31, a part-time restaurant worker, on suspicion of attempted indecent assault. He allegedly hugged a female college student in her 20s on a street in Itabashi Ward, Tokyo, and attempted to commit an indecent act.
The incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. on June 16 this year. The suspect was looking for a girl he liked in front of a station near his house. There, he found Ms. A on her way home. When Ms. A felt a suspicious presence behind her and turned around, the suspect was taking pictures of her with his smartphone.
Feeling fear, Ms. A ran away after about 100 meters. She ran to a nearby police box with a man who happened to be passing by and asked for help.
He was so eager to take pictures of the woman.
Upon seeing Ms. A enter the police box, the suspect Suwa fled the scene and returned to his home. However, Ms. A’s statement revealed Suwa’s appearance and the T-shirt she was wearing. Later, an alert police officer found Suwa in Itabashi Ward and visited him at his home, where he admitted the crime and was arrested.
Suwa also stated the following upon investigation: “I came home from a part-time job and couldn’t help but notice a woman. ‘I came home from a part-time job and really wanted to take pictures of the woman,’ ‘I tried to touch her breasts and legs, but she resisted, so I ran away,’ and ‘I was controlled by the urge to touch her body.
More than 100 photos and videos of the woman were found on Suwa’s smartphone. The police believe there are additional crimes and are investigating.”
As he photographed the women, Suwa’s desire for more grew. It is believed that there are other victims besides Ms. A.
