 On July 6, the Tokyo District Court heard the trial of Ken Kawashima, who is accused of attempted quasi-rape (the crime before the law was revised in 2005). Kawashima is also accused of violating the Child Prostitution and Child Pornography Law by filming a girl in his homeroom changing her clothes.
 Kawashima has been arrested several times for indecent acts against girls. He used his position as a teacher to take pictures and touch the girls. The trial this time was for sexual conduct toward a former student, Ms. A, who was in her teens at the time. Kawashima admitted touching Ms. A&#8217;s private parts, but pleaded not guilty on the grounds that they were in a relationship.

 This was the third time a teacher was arrested for repeatedly committing indecent acts against his students.
 On April 2, 2010, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department&#8217;s Investigation Division 1 re-arrested Kawashima, an elementary school teacher in Saitama City&#8217;s Midori Ward, on suspicion of rape. Kawashima was arrested twice in February and March of the same year for filming a female student changing into a bathing suit at the school where he worked with a smartphone.

 In November 2009, a female student who thought the incident was suspicious contacted the school. The school contacted the police. When they raided Kawashima&#8217;s home, they found nearly 20 photos and videos of the girl on his smartphone. In addition, there were about 1,000 child pornography images stored on the phone that were thought to have been downloaded from the Internet,&#8221; said a reporter from the society section of a national newspaper.
 The victims of the voyeurism were all girls in Kawashima&#8217;s homeroom class.
 Kawashima&#8217;s indecent acts were not the only ones. At the elementary school where he used to work, he repeatedly touched the girls and placed them on his knees. Kawashima&#8217;s behavior was viewed as a problem at the school, and according to a TBS report, he was suspended for three months in 2005. However, it was deemed not to be an incident and the police were not consulted at the time.
 The third time he was arrested, he was charged with rape. The crime was extremely vicious.
 The incident occurred in May 2012. He summoned Ms. A, a former student at the elementary school where he worked, to Saitama Prefecture and sexually assaulted her. Kawashima kept Ms. A in the dark by saying, &#8216;Don&#8217;t tell anyone,&#8217; and &#8216;Don&#8217;t tell two people. He told her, &#8220;Don&#8217;t tell anyone,&#8221; and &#8220;It&#8217;s a secret between us.
 The trigger for the arrest was a computer confiscated from Kawashima&#8217;s home. Inside the computer were videos and still images taken during the assault of the girl. In addition to the incident that led to her arrest, the girl had apparently been sexually assaulted on multiple occasions. Kawashima told the investigators, &#8216;I have nothing to say about the facts.
 The crime against Ms. A may be just the tip of the iceberg. The full extent of Kawashima&#8217;s crimes will be revealed in court.
