 The horrific incident took place at 10:00 a.m. on June 29. Sana Tominaga, 18, a college student, came out of her apartment in Tsurumi Ward, Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, and was stabbed to death by Ryuki Ito, 22, a self-proclaimed company employee, with a kitchen knife he was carrying.
 About 10 minutes after Tominaga&#8217;s mother called 110 to report that her daughter was bleeding and lying on the floor, Ito turned himself in to the Tsurumi Police Station of the Kanagawa Prefectural Police and was urgently arrested on suspicion of murder. Ms. Tominaga was stabbed multiple times in the upper body and transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The cause of death was hemorrhagic shock.
 Ms. Tominaga and the suspect had been dating for about two years. They started dating because Ms. Tominaga worked part-time at a restaurant where Mr. Ito was the manager. However, the suspect Ito was very restrictive and there was constant trouble between them.
 From October &#8217;21 to June this year, Ms. Tominaga and her friends reported the incident to the police four times.&#8217; In December 2010, Ms. Tominaga told the responding police officers. He told me, &#8216;If you break up with me, I will kill you. He was strangled. According to a classmate of Ms. Tominaga&#8217;s who was interviewed by several reporters immediately after the incident, Ms. Tominaga was beaten violently, including being hit by a horse, and told, &#8220;You really don&#8217;t mind if I break up with you, do you? I don&#8217;t care what happens to you,'&#8221; said a reporter from the society department of a national newspaper.

 On June 22, about a week before the incident, Ms. Tominaga and Mr. Ito were in trouble.
 They got into a fight involving violence in Ito&#8217;s car. Ms. Tominaga left her backpack containing the keys to her house in the car. The next day, the police recovered the backpack, but did not find the keys. It is possible that the suspect used Ms. Tominaga&#8217;s forgotten key to enter the apartment building where the incident took place and ambush her.

 Ms. Tominaga had a bright and outgoing personality and was a popular person adored by many of her friends. When she was a child, she performed as a child actor and even appeared on stage in a play staged at a theater in Tokyo. However, after she began dating the suspect Ito, her friends found it difficult to see her. It is possible that the suspect Ito, who has a strong desire to be restrained, did not want Ms. Tominaga to have friendly contact with her friends.
 There were also strange incidents at the suspect&#8217;s apartment, located about 2 km away from Ms. Tominaga&#8217;s apartment.  According to the lawyer for Ms. Tominaga&#8217;s family, she had separated from the suspect Ito about a week before the incident. However, Ms. Tominaga continued to receive persistent direct messages from him. It is not difficult to imagine that Ms. Tominaga had a strong sense of fear.
 The police contacted relatives on both sides and set up a meeting with both of them to discuss the situation. We were intermittently checking to see if the suspect Ito had committed any violent acts. But as a result, a tragic incident occurred.
