<p> Around 4:30 in the early morning, about 12 hours after the incident, the quiet surroundings began to echo with the sound of dogs barking. A few minutes later, a lone man emerged from a house surrounded by six to seven police officers.</p>
<p> At 4:37 a.m. on May 26, a man who had been holed up in a house in Nakano City, Nagano Prefecture, was taken into custody. Aoki Masanori, 31, the eldest son of the Nakano city council president, was arrested in the incident that left four people dead, including two police officers who rushed to the scene.</p>
<p> Aoki stabbed a woman who lived nearby with a knife he was carrying, and then killed two police officers, a lieutenant and a sergeant, who arrived at the scene on a report, with a hunting rifle he was carrying. He then returned to his home with the hunting rifle in his possession and holed up.</p>
<p> The suspect&#8217;s mother and aunt, who were home by yesterday evening, ran away, so the suspect is believed to have been alone in his home.</p>
