 On March 24, the Chiba District Court (Judge Yasushi Fukuke) sentenced Atsushi Suzuki, 33, of Yachiyo City, Chiba Prefecture, to two years in prison, suspended for four years, on charges of inflicting injury. Suzuki is a licensed professional boxer. According to the indictment, in December last year, he knocked Ms. A, a woman in her 20s with whom he was dating at the time, to the ground and kicked her repeatedly in the face.
 Ms. A sustained serious injuries, including a bruised right eye and a fracture of the inner wall of her right orbit, resulting in a total recovery of one month. It seems that the feelings of punishment toward the defendant Suzuki are quite strong. On the other hand, Suzuki has shown remorse by saying that he will give up his license and reform himself, so his sentence was suspended.

 On January 10, Suzuki was arrested by the Yachiyo Police Station of the Chiba Prefectural Police on suspicion of inflicting injury. Suzuki had been active as a professional boxer under the ring name &#8220;Ikemen Jun.
 The incident occurred on December 25 last year, just after 11:00 a.m. on Christmas Day. Suzuki got into an argument with Ms. A, a woman he was dating, on a street near his home. In a fit of rage, he grabbed her by the chest, pulled her down, and repeatedly kicked her in the face.
 Based on Ms. A&#8217;s testimony, Suzuki emerged in the line of investigation. He fled the scene, but was arrested by the police who were pursuing his whereabouts. Upon investigation, Suzuki admitted to the crime, saying, &#8216;There is no doubt about it.
 Suzuki was born in Yamagata Prefecture. He started boxing late, at the age of 20.
 He was a member of the volleyball club in junior high school and the baseball club in high school. Inspired by a childhood friend who was a boxer, he made his debut in March &#8217;15. He was good at fighting with other boxers, but his record was not good. His total record is 18 fights with 7 wins (2 KOs), 9 losses, and 2 draws. In November &#8217;19, he suffered five consecutive defeats and decided to temporarily retire in November &#8217;21.
 He belonged to a boxing gym in Chiba Prefecture, but his reputation was not good. He was frustrated because his results were not good, and his behavior was considered a problem. I heard that he seemed to be losing motivation.
 Did Suzuki take his frustration out on the woman he was dating because of his continued poor performance? Regardless of the reason, it is unforgivable for a fighter to assault a civilian. No matter how much remorse Suzuki may have felt, the woman&#8217;s emotional wounds will never completely heal.
