Dramas from NTV for the January 2011 season are doing well. Among them, “Daihyoin Jyutaku” (NTV), starring Sho Sakurai (41), has become a hot topic on SNS every time it is broadcast, and it is fast becoming the leader in core viewership ratings (ratings among men and women aged 13-49).

In the early afternoon, Ai Higa changes into her surgical gown and heads out for filming. She brought a cushion for the long shoot.

Before the broadcast, not much was expected of the show,” said Higa. “Before the show aired, not many people expected much from it. They just thought that since Sakurai was playing the lead role, it would get some ratings. Surprisingly, however, the show became a buzz on SNS and other social networking sites. Why? Because the show is full of quips, and viewers enjoy that. For example, when Sakurai reaches out to help Ai Higa (36), who has fallen from a high-rise floor of a hospital, the timing of the scene is apparently out of place, but the next moment, Sakurai is firmly holding Higa’s hand. The next moment, however, Higa is firmly holding on to Sakurai’s hand, even though the timing of the fall seems to be out of the question. (Laughter). (Laughs). This was a hit with the netizens. (A production company insider).

Around 10 p.m., the filming, which had lasted more than 10 hours, came to an end. Sakurai changed out of her costume into a T-shirt and sweatshirt, and was seen off by a large number of staff members as she left the shooting location.

The filming took place mainly at a public facility in Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture, which was also used as the location for the movie “Sailor Suit and Machine Gun: Graduation. Sakurai plays the lead role, Higa plays his wife, and the “ogres” who are hostile to them and occupy the hospital. When the filming began in early December of last year, the main cast alone numbered nearly 20 people, and extensive filming took place day after day.

During filming, Kanji Tsuda, Eriko Nakamura, and Mariko Tsutsui (from right) came to the entrance area as they moved around the facility.

In the beginning, the names of the actors were kept secret in the schedules and scripts distributed to all parties concerned, and the names were written as “Red Devil” and so on. Although the confidentiality was strictly maintained, those who were watching the filming on location could easily spot the actors, and some said, “Isn’t that Jun Murakami? The filming was kept strictly confidential, but the people who were watching the filming on location could easily spot it. Before the broadcast began, it was identified on the Internet who would play the 10 ogres. This guessing game also contributed to the excitement.

Jun Murakami, a.k.a. “Green Demon,” who was in a completely off-mode before the shooting, was called by a female staff member in the parking lot of the filming facility and pointed at himself, saying, “What? and pointed to himself.
Around 9:00 p.m., Higa appeared in the parking lot after changing his clothes, chatting with the staff.

The secret identity of all the demons has been revealed, and the final episode of “Occupy the Great Hospital” will be broadcast on March 18. The previews suggest that there will be a big twist, but will the netizens be able to see through this ending as well?
