Tetsuto Yamada enters a standing noodle shop after winning the league championship in ’15, the first in 14 years.

After the first round of the WBC, Tetsuto Yamada (30) of the Samurai Japan team had nine hits and two runs batted in, which frankly was not enough. Yamada, who was hitless in the five games prior to the tournament, was handed the starting spot in the first game against China by Shugo Maki (24) of the DNA Bay Stars, who has been on a tear this tournament. He made his first appearance in a game against the Czech Republic on November 11, hitting a timely shot in his second at-bat, but he is still not back to his best. After the game, Yamada said.

After the game, Yamada said, “I feel a great sense of responsibility and pressure to wear the uniform of Japan, but I am very happy to be able to play baseball here. I want to live up to the expectations. A lot of people are paying attention to me, and I am determined to do my best and achieve results.

I am very determined to do my best and achieve results.

Yamada is known as a player who is extremely strong in international competition. At the WBSC Premier 12 in 2003, he hit two home runs and had a .308 batting average, and at the WBC in 2005, he hit two home runs and had a .296 batting average. At the Tokyo Olympics, he batted .350 and was named MVP of the games, contributing to the gold medal. The fans knew exactly what to expect, and they were even more excited when Yamada appeared on the field. He was not at his best until the first round of the tournament, but Yamada is a strong competitor on the big stage, and I am sure that he will make another memorable performance.

Speaking of 2003, Yamada hit his first “triple-three” in the same year. He was also in great shape in his private life. One night just before the victory, Yamada went to a blind date with a group of beautiful women.

Twice in three weeks, he was all smiles at a blind date with beautiful women (October 30, 2003 issue).

After the match at Jingu, Yamada drove his beloved car to an Italian restaurant. Waiting for him there were two male acquaintances and four beautiful women with a model-like figure. The party lasted three and a half hours, and the group left the restaurant at 1:30 am. Yamada must have had a lot of fun, because he exclaimed, “Yee-haw! and boasted of his car to the beauties, “That’s my car! He showed off his car to the beautiful women. Yamada was about to take the girls for a ride in his car, but instead, he stopped the cab in a gentlemanly manner and let them go home. Two weeks later, he went to Roppongi for another blind date with four other beautiful women. It made me realize that a man who is in the mood is popular with the ladies.

A man with a “triple-three” buzz is also a picture standing at the counter.

However…. On the night the Yakult won the league championship for the first time in 14 years, after enjoying beer at the stadium and energetically appearing on TV programs until the sun went down, he finally settled down at a place that was neither a high-class club nor a party place. It was a standing noodle shop. Yamada, who visited the restaurant with Shingo Kawabata (then 27) and Kazuhiro Hatakeyama (then 33), slurped up his noodles as he stood at the counter. The customers around him, who at first looked at him with some trepidation, involuntarily smiled, and the restaurant was enveloped in a warm atmosphere.

This aloofness is part of Yamada’s charm. From the quarterfinal round, I have no doubt that he will regain his conventional strength and play an active role.

On November 10, the day before the Super Round of the WBSC Premier 12, Yamada enjoyed a blind date with beautiful women (December 6, 2007 issue).
