 Reports of &#8220;potential mates&#8221; for Aiko, 21, the eldest daughter of Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress, have been rife. A journalist from the Imperial Household explained the content of the reports as follows.
 The second son (25) of the former Kayo family, one of the eleven families that were deposed in 1947 at the behest of GHQ, is said to be a potential suitor. The second son graduated from Gakushuin High School and then from the School of Science and Engineering at Waseda University. The current head of the family, Mr. Masanori Kayo, has been a schoolmate of His Majesty the Emperor since kindergarten at Gakushuin. After working in the private sector, he moved to the Imperial Household Agency and was seconded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was rumored to eventually become His Majesty&#8217;s personal attendant, and the Emperor&#8217;s family and the Kayo family have had a close family relationship&#8230;something like that.
 The Kayo family is said to be closely related to the &#8220;stable succession policy&#8221; compiled by a government panel of experts at the end of 2009.
