First Summer Uika has been cast as Sei Shonagon in the NHK Taiga Drama “To the Luminous Kimi

The second cast of the 2024 NHK Taiga Drama “Hikaru Kimi e” was announced on February 21, and the role of Sei Shonagon has been decided on by the TV personality First Summer Uika (32). Uika will be making her Taiga debut.

I have the impression that Sei Shonagon is intelligent and winsome, open but witty, and a leading dry blogger.

I find it hard to believe that she is 1,000 years old, and I feel that she is so relatable, human, and charming.

I feel that she is a charming woman with a human touch. Speaking of Sei Shonagon, she is the rival of Murasaki Shikibu, played by Yuriko Yoshitaka (34), who stars in the current drama, and plays a very important role in the drama. The appointment of Uika, who has little acting experience, gives the impression of a great choice.

In 2021, she will appear in the NHK TV series “Ochoyan.” (TBS), in which she played a character with a different name in each episode. In 2021, she appeared in NHK’s TV series “Ochoyan”, wearing a kimono with Japanese hair tied up, and although her scenes were short, she left a strong impact. In talk shows, she is also intelligent and winsome. She is very good at enlivening the conversation with witty remarks. She also wears the character of Sei Shonagon. Perhaps she even looks like Uika,” said a person involved in NHK’s drama production.

I have high expectations for her. When you put it that way, you can’t help but feel an air of “elegance” in Urika….

The cast includes Tasuku Emoto (36) as Fujiwara no Michinaga, Goro Kishitani (58) as Fujiwara no Tameoki, the father of Murasaki Shikibu, and the two actors who play the role of Michinaga’s father, Fujiwara no Tameoki. All four actors have a very similar atmosphere, as do the lead actor Yō Yoshida, and Yō Yoshida (age not disclosed) as Fujiwara no Innoko, the elder sister of Fujiwara no Michinaga, who gives the film a “miyabi” atmosphere. Is it just my imagination?

In an interview with “Stellar Net” (November 9, 2022), Chief Producer Yuki Uchida, who oversees the production of the film, said the following about why they chose Tasuku Emoto to play the role of Fujiwara no Michinaga: “There’s a certain rawness to the role.

We wanted someone with a certain rawness, not an idol-like beauty, but someone who could show various charms in various situations. If that was the case, I thought there was no one else but Ms. Emoto. (omission) Ms. Emoto is an actor who has something that makes women “wow” instead of “thrill”. For some reason, they can’t stop thinking about him for a week.

Speaking of Emoto, on February 27, Shukan Josei PRIME reported that “Sakura Ando and Tasuku Emoto had moved to Kyoto! The reason for the move was that Emoto was not a married couple. Emoto is a movie geek without equal and had a longing for Kyoto, where the “movie town” of Uzumasa is located. Emoto herself, in a direct interview with the magazine, said, “Anyway, I love Kyoto.

“Anyway, I love Kyoto,” she said.

I love Kyoto anyway,” she said. Perhaps Emoto’s somewhat “miyabi” atmosphere comes from her love of Kyoto.
