The yakuza industry is taking notice…! Director and star Shigeki Nagahara reveals the truth about the “Nakano-kai chairman attack
The great war that shook the world and became the turning point of the 5th Yamaguchigumi was made into a movie by the comedian who was a reporter for "Tantei! Night Scoop" reporter, adapted it to a movie.
The film “Furebumi: Otoko-tachi no ikitei shiken” (Furebumi: The testimony of men’s lives), which was screened in a single theater at the end of last year, has been attracting a great deal of attention from the yakuza industry.
Co-directed by Masanori Kawamoto, 49, an actor and carver, and Shigeki Nagahara, 58, a comedian. He is a light and witty reporter for “Detective! Night Scoop,” one would think that the comedian made the film as a hobby, but that is not the case. It is a gritty film based on a real-life gangster case.
The subject of the film is the “Nakano-kai chairman attack” that took place in 1996. Taro Nakano, the chairman of the Yamaguchigumi V, was attacked at a barbershop in Yawata City, Kyoto Prefecture, by members of the local Aizu Kotetsu-kai. The film depicts the seven months leading up to the attack by the seven-member execution squad of the Aizu Kotetsu-kai,” said director Kawamoto.
Two members of the Aizu Kotetsu-kai were killed in the fierce firefight. The two organizations made peace, but Chairman Nakano’s dissatisfaction with the ruling is said to have led to the subsequent shooting death of Yamaguchigumi young leader Masaru Takumi. This incident can be called a turning point in gangster society.
The reason why this film is attracting attention from “professionals” is that it is based on a meticulously researched case. Nagahara reveals his enthusiasm for the film.
Director Kawamoto and the screenwriter spent five hours interviewing a former executive of the Aizu Kotetsu-kai, the leader of the perpetrators, and realistically depicted the process of the attack. This interview was made possible by an acquaintance of Director Kawamoto’s who had a connection with the person. Of course, we were told that this is the first time that the leader of the execution team has confessed. When the idea of a movie came up, all I could do was get excited.”
In the film, there is a scene in which the leader of the execution unit, played by Nagahara, speaks to the audience and says, “The assault unit is my family,” and another scene in which he gets tattoos of the names of two of his men who died. These are graphic depictions that could only have been obtained through actual interviews.
The climax of the film is the attack on the barbershop. The climax of the film is the attack on the barbershop, where the executioners are confronted with an unexpected situation. Nagahara smiles and says, “That would be a spoiler.
It’s a bit of a spoiler, so you’ll have to see the movie to find out how it ends. Several people from Yoshimoto Kogyo, to which I belong, appear in the film, and it is a respectable film that has received a grant from the Agency for Cultural Affairs (laughs). (Laughs.) We will release the film in single screenings, but I hope it will be a hit like “Don’t Stop the Camera! I hope it will be a hit like “Don’t Stop the Camera!
FRIDAY also had the opportunity to interview the former leader of the Aizu Kotetsu-kai, who cooperated with the film. The man, who is now in his 70s, spoke with the air of a monk and gave his impressions of the film.
I had turned down all requests for interviews in the past,” he said. But this time, because of my connection with Director Kawamoto, I decided to talk to him as a milestone. I hope I was able to make a memorial service for the people who passed away. I hope that those who watch the film will never forget that this reality existed.
For those who want to know more about the other side of the major conflict that shook the world, why not go to the movie theaters?
