‘Ikemen Jun’ Arrested for beating his girlfriend to a pulp.

On January 30, the Chiba District Public Prosecutors Office indicted a man who kicked his girlfriend in the face, causing her to suffer serious injuries that would take approximately seven weeks to heal. The man charged with inflicting injury is Jun Suzuki, 32, a resident of Yachiyo City in Chiba Prefecture. He is a professional boxer who goes by the ring name “Ikemen Jun.”

According to the indictment, the incident took place at 11:30 p.m. on December 25 last year. It was Christmas night. He allegedly knocked an unemployed woman in her 20s to the ground on a sidewalk near her home, kicked her repeatedly in the face and side of the head, and broke bones around her eyes and her right rib cage. FRIDAY Digital reported the details of the incident on January 12. We would like to recount the crime of “handsome Jun”  (some contents have been modified) –.

He said, “I was beaten up. Please call the police. Please help me.”

A young woman with a swollen face asks a passerby for help. The passerby immediately called 110. The man who had harmed the woman was a professional boxer with whom she had been dating.

On January 10, Suzuki, whose ring name is “Ikemen Jun,”  or “Handsome Jun” was arrested by the Yachiyo Police Station of the Chiba Prefectural Police on suspicion of inflicting injury.

On Christmas night last year, Suzuki got into an argument with Ms. A, a woman in her 20s with whom he was dating, on a street near his home. In a fit of rage, he grabbed her by the chest, pulled her down, and repeatedly kicked her in the face.

Ms. A sustained serious injuries, including a bruised right eye and a fracture of the inner wall of her right orbit. Based on Ms. A’s testimony and other information, the defendant Suzuki emerged in the line of investigation. He fled the scene, but was soon arrested.

Frustration caused by lack of results

Jun, who was arrested for beating his girlfriend to a pulp.

Suzuki was born in Yamagata Prefecture. He started boxing late, at the age of 20.

He was a member of the volleyball club in junior high school and the baseball club in high school. Inspired by a childhood friend who was a boxer, he made his debut in March 2003. He is good at fighting with other boxers, but his record is not so good. In 18 fights, he has 7 wins (2 KOs), 9 losses, and 2 draws, and since November 2019, he has suffered 5 consecutive defeats and decided to temporarily retire in November 2021.

“He belonged to a boxing gym in Chiba Prefecture, but his reputation was not good. I guess he was getting frustrated because his results were not good, and his behavior was considered a problem. Recently, I heard that his motivation seemed to be declining,” said a sports newspaper reporter.

Did Suzuki take out his frustration as a professional boxer on the woman he was dating? Regardless of the reason, it is unforgivable for a fighter to assault a civilian. Former Kanagawa Prefectural Police detective and crime journalist Taihei Ogawa explains.

A professional boxer’s fist is a deadly weapon. They train their footwork on a daily basis, and so do their feet. The victim must be aware that there is a risk of serious, life-threatening injury. Once you get out of the ring, you should never raise your hands.

And in this case, it would be malicious because he aimed at a woman’s face. How will the defendant take responsibility if he is left with bruises that will never go away? I think a prison sentence is quite possible in this case.

“Ikemen Jun” has turned the body he trained for the ring into a weapon that can injure the woman he is dating. His remarks in court will be closely watched.
