Yukihiro Takahashi, who was “fashionable” in every way

Yukihiro Takahashi, a musician and drummer of the Yellow Magic Orchestra (YMO), passed away on January 14. 70 years old, the cause of his death was aspiration pneumonia. He had undergone surgery to remove a brain tumor in 2008, and had been working hard on rehabilitation in preparation for his 50th anniversary concert last September, but unfortunately his wish was not fulfilled.

In 1978, he formed YMO with Ryuichi Sakamoto (70) and Haruomi Hosono (75) and created the term “techno-pop” with a new sound that made full use of synthesizers, creating a worldwide techno boom in the 1980s.

Mr. Takahashi, who described himself as an “ordinary person” between the “professor” Ryuichi Sakamoto and the “genius” Haruomi Hosono, was the organizer of the band. Of course, he was a “genius” on par with both of them. But in terms of “versatility,” Takahashi was by far the most versatile.

He produced Pink Lady and Kumiko Yamashita, and provided songs for Mariya Takeuchi, Toshihiko Tahara, and others. He also participated in recordings by Tatsuro Yamashita and Off-Course, and from his late 20s became active as a fashion designer, working on stage costumes for YMO and other projects, and his red “people’s clothes costumes” shocked the world. His “techno cut,” in which all the members shaved their fringes off their heads, became a huge craze and was imitated by many fashion-conscious young people.

In 1983, he made his debut as an actor in the movie “Daijobu My Friend,” and in the same year he began “Yukihiro Takahashi’s All Night Nippon” (Nippon Broadcasting Co., Ltd.) In 1985, he appeared in the comedy program “Gokuraku TV” (TV Asahi). It was a variety program consisting of “The Atama Family” and other weird alien comedies, etc. Tamio Kageyama was in charge of the program’s writer, and the cast included Shimada Shinsuke and Nozawa Naoko, among others. At the time, “Friday” (November 8, 1985 issue) interviewed Mr. Takahashi, and he said of his decision to appear in a comedy show, “It was a 180-degree turnaround from what I had been.

He said, “I’m trying my best to be a 180-degree different hail-mary than I have been up to now. I’m a little worried that it will damage my image.

I’m a little worried that it will damage my image. As a result, the show was cancelled after only four episodes due to low viewer ratings. In a sense, the fact that the show ended with no publicity at all did not damage its image.

The following year, however, the program caused a commotion. It was an affair with a successful female singer.

At first glance, Mr. Takahashi has a taciturn, cool image, which might lead one to think he is a difficult person, but in fact he is a very friendly person who loves comedy. In fact, he is a very friendly person who loves comedy. He is also very attentive to details, which made him popular among women.

In 1986, Mr. Takahashi had an affair with a female singer in her 20s, Ms. A, whom he was producing. At the time, “Friday” (April 4, 1986 issue) caught Mr. Takahashi staying at Ms. A’s house and leaving in the morning. Takahashi’s office made no comment when contacted. Mr. Takahashi later divorced his wife. He never spoke about the incident.

Living “like a married couple” with a beautiful model

Seven years later, in 1993, Takahashi was married for the first time in 10 years to a beautiful model named Kiyomi Takahashi. In that year, “YMO” was revived for the first time in 10 years, and a concert was scheduled to be held at the Nippon Budokan in June. About a month earlier, “Friday” (June 4, 1993 issue) had caught him and Kiyomi Shimoi (then 38), a successful model, living “as if they were married.

The two were living an “almost married” life, going back and forth to each other’s homes, enjoying dinner at a sushi restaurant, and going shopping together on other days. When we asked them about their relationship, Takahashi replied.

We are in a relationship.

They later got married. The two later married. Shimoi had already retired from modeling at the time, but returned in 2010 as Kiyomi Takahashi after a 24-year absence. In 2008, when asked about her husband in an interview, she replied, “My husband is a fashionable man from the bottom of his heart.

My husband is a fashionable man from the bottom up. He is a fashionable person from the bottom up, so I trust him absolutely. Before going out, I always ask him to take a look at my clothes and see what he thinks. If he says, ‘It looks good,’ then it passes the test. It’s not just about the clothes; it’s about the future, where, with whom, and in what situation, and it includes many other things.

Takahashi’s last Twitter post was on June 7 last year. Takahashi, who celebrated his 70th birthday the day before, wrote
