Big and cute…this is the Year of the Rabbit! Jumbo rabbit “the best in the world”, a handsome hugger.
This is the Year of the Rabbit!
Eating 4,000 carrots and 120 cabbages a year, Ralph grew to 1 meter in length and weighed over 25 kg in 3 years!
Big ears and dull eyes…aren’t they a little too big? The 17-year-old Ella is holding Ralph, a Continental Giant Rabbit, in her arms. He eats 4,000 carrots and 120 cabbages a year, and at 3 years old, he is about 1 meter long and weighs 25 kg. In the UK, jumbo rabbits are raised by ordinary families, and he is a true member of the McDonnell family. Darius, who lives in Worcestershire, has grown to 1 meter 29 cm in length and is recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as the “World’s Largest Rabbit.
Jumbo rabbits have a short life span of about eight years. Individuals that grow up to be as large as the one in the photo are rare, even in zoos. In Japan, you can touch a jumbo rabbit at “Atagoyama Park” in Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture, and experience the comfort of holding the “world’s best” rabbit during the Year of the Rabbit, which comes around once every 12 years.
