 Four years after her first arrest, a 25-year-old mother was arrested for the second time.
 On January 11, Kanagawa Prefecture&#8217;s Investigation Division 1 re-arrested restaurant employee Kaho Hashimoto, 25, on suspicion of inflicting injury to her then 3-year-old daughter, A. In February 2007, the suspect poured boiling water on A&#8217;s back, causing severe burns. Hashimoto denied the crime, telling the prefectural police, &#8220;I didn&#8217;t do it.

 When police officers responded to the call, they found A wrapped in food wrap with severe burns on her back. The prefectural police are arresting Hashimoto and her boyfriend, who lived with the suspect, on suspicion of abandonment of protective responsibility.
 Hashimoto explained to police that he was taking a shower alone with the child and accidentally got splashed with boiling water, and that he was doing housework when he heard a loud noise and saw A-chan collapse. As for not taking her to the hospital and wrapping her in plastic wrap, the suspect stated as follows: &#8220;If she got burned, I would have wrapped her in plastic wrap. He said, &#8220;I looked up on the Internet that if you get burned, you can wrap yourself in plastic wrap.
 Hashimoto left A-chan unattended for three days. The burns on A-chan are serious and will take more than three months to heal. Hashimoto and her boyfriend were charged with failing to fulfill their parental responsibilities and were sentenced to two years in prison, with a four-year suspended sentence.

 According to court records, Hashimoto had a history of problematic behavior, including smoking, since junior high school. After graduating from high school, she married a man she was dating at the time, but they soon divorced. She moved from her parents&#8217; home in Soka City, Saitama Prefecture, to Yokohama City in May 2006.
 Before the incident, Hashimoto wrote on his Twitter page Before I became a parent, I used to think that kids around me were noisy and not cute, but now when I see noisy kids or crying kids, I think they are cute.
 On the other hand, neighbors heard him yelling at the children, and the relatives often consulted the Child Guidance Center. The suspect, Hashimoto, had received interviews and home visits from the Child Guidance Center. The police interviewed a medical specialist and determined that Hashimoto was responsible for the burns on A. He was re-arrested four years later.
 At the trial, Hashimoto said, &#8220;I want to be a mother who can think of her child first.
