It is early December in a downtown residential area of Tokyo. Wakana Aoi (24) is walking with a shopping bag slung over her shoulder next to three ladies chatting on the side of the street, on location for the drama “How to Spend 3,000 Yen” (Fuji TV), which will start in January.
Aoi looks a little troubled as she walks along. When the camera cuts to the scene and she returns to her original position, she looks troubled and scurries around as if she is practicing her facial expressions. And this continued until the camera rolled again.
The drama is about four women from three generations of a family dealing with money and life’s problems. Aoi plays the role of a 24-year-old office worker who is indifferent to money, but one day, she starts to save and save money.
In addition to this work, Aoi also starred in TV Tokyo’s New Year’s special drama “Holiday in Edo”. Since her breakthrough role in the NHK morning drama “Warotenka” in 2005, Aoi has had a by-the-numbers image, but this drama is actually her 12th starring role, and her reputation as an actress is growing. In addition, she has been active on the stage since 2007.
Kaoru Shimada, an entertainment reporter who has been watching Aoi’s stage performances since her debut, says, “When I saw her first musical, I was so impressed by her performance.
In her first musical, she performed a song at the production announcement before the performance, but I was surprised at the change in her performance because she raised her level of performance dramatically in the show. He may appear aloof, but he is quite a hard worker. I think her experience on stage will certainly come to life in the video.”
Aoi is a graduate of Keio University and a talented woman. She is steadily on her way to becoming a top actress.
