 He was arrested in Kayagasaki and told, &#8220;Do you know about the incident in Kayagasaki? I did it.&#8221;
 On the evening of December 22, a man turned himself in to the Mobara Police Station in Chiba Prefecture. The &#8220;Kayagasaki Incident&#8221; refers to the stabbing to death of a company employee, Hiroyuki Shikata, 55, who lived near the beach in Kayagasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture. The man told Mobara police officers that he came from Kaykesaki because he wanted to see the sea (in Chiba).

 On the same night, Yasuhiro Takai, 50, a suspect with no fixed address and unknown occupation, was arrested by the Kanagawa Prefectural Police Investigation Division 1 on suspicion of murder. He admitted to the police that he committed the crime, but stated that he threw away the knife that was used as the murder weapon.
 The incident took place on December 20, just after 1:00 pm. Takai pushed the intercom at Yotsugata-san&#8217;s house. When Yotsukata-san opened the front door, the suspect stabbed her several times, mainly in the chest, with a knife-like blade he was carrying. He fled the scene.
 Soon after, Yotsukata-san&#8217;s wife called 110, saying, &#8220;My husband was stabbed with a kitchen knife. I don&#8217;t know who it was. Yotsugata-san was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead about three hours later. The cause of death was exsanguination. The intercom monitor showed a man wearing beige work clothes, a mask, and a white towel covering his face,&#8221; said a reporter from the society section of a national newspaper.

 Mr. Shikata, a native of Ayabe City, Kyoto Prefecture, was working as a &#8220;sales director&#8221; for a foreign IT company. His hobby of surfing led him to move to Kayagasaki in 2004. He was also involved in the real estate business from around 2003 as a side business, and owned a large amount of assets. According to Shikata-san&#8217;s company registration, he had apartments and rooms in Sapporo City, Hokkaido, and Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo, which he used for investment and rental.
 Takai lived in a condominium purchased by Shikata-san around 2004 in Joto-ku, Osaka City. However, since 2005, he has been in arrears of rent of about 40,000 yen per month for five years. In January of this year, Ms. Shikata filed a civil suit in Osaka to have the money paid. The Takai suspects countered that they were not illegally occupying the apartment and that the complaint itself was a lie, but they were dismissed, and in October the Osaka Summary Court ruled that they should leave the apartment.

 The suspect moved out of the apartment in mid-December. He probably harbored a strong grudge against Ms. Shikata. Security camera footage revealed that he drove a rental car with Osaka license plates to Ms. Shikata&#8217;s home to commit the crime. He stabbed Ms. Shikata repeatedly in the head and chest, indicating a strong intent to kill. The suspect, Takai, was a man of many troublesome behaviors.
 According to neighbors, he had gray hair, a tan complexion, and a cool look. He often got into trouble with residents. If they didn&#8217;t like the way he took out the garbage, he would yell at them, &#8216;You&#8217;re dirty, you idiot! He was a bit of an outcast in the neighborhood. I heard that he was a person who stood out from the others.
 Did the suspect&#8217;s resentment lead to the horrific incident? The police are investigating the detailed motive for the crime.
