 On October 7, immediately after the woman&#8217;s death, the suspect tweeted a meaningful message.

 On October 11, Isamu Ono, 53, an unemployed Sapporo City resident, was re-arrested for dumping the body of Yuna Segawa, 22, a university student living in Otaru City, Hokkaido. Ms. Segawa went out from her home with a smile on her face at noon on October 3. On October 7, a missing persons report was filed with the Hokkaidō police.
 The signal from Ms. Segawa&#8217;s smartphone was cut off near the apartment where the suspect Ono lived. Subsequent investigations revealed the possibility that Ms. Segawa was being held captive in the Ono suspect&#8217;s home. When police arrived at the scene, they found Ono in front of the house and questioned him about his duties. Since he was carrying a folding knife with a blade length of 8.7 cm, they arrested him for violating the Firearms Control Law.
 Furthermore, when Ono&#8217;s room was raided, Segawa&#8217;s body was found at &#8230;&#8230;. As a result of the autopsy, it is believed that she died around the 4th, and the cause of death was asphyxiation due to being strangled. Mr. Segawa&#8217;s smartphone was also found in the room. Upon investigation, Ono told the police that he had met Ms. Segawa before the incident and that he had killed her by strangling her in the room.  The suspect Ono seems to have said that he and Ms. Segawa &#8220;met through SNS,&#8221; but the details of how they met are unknown. According to a friend, Ms. Segawa loved cooking and had a cheerful personality.

 The 2010 edition of the university&#8217;s brochure states, &#8220;Ms. Segawa studied rehabilitation at a university in Sapporo with the goal of becoming an occupational therapist in the future.  Ono, on the other hand, did not seem to have much interaction with his neighbors.
 When we asked people who lived nearby, they gave us only weak impressions of him. However, he often boasted about the tattoos on his body and his knowledge of weapons. On his Twitter profile, which appears to belong to Ono, he wrote, &#8220;Former 2nd class sergeant&#8221; and &#8220;former mercenary,&#8221; as if he wanted to show off his experience in the Japan Self-Defense Forces. He also introduced himself as a &#8220;murderer&#8221; and &#8220;a kind-hearted reaper.

 After October 4, the day of Segawa&#8217;s death, the person who is believed to be Ono continued to tweet meaningful messages (original in Japanese).

 How should we read these messages? Former Kanagawa Prefectural Police detective and crime journalist Taihei Ogawa explains.
 There is a possibility that this is a murder-for-hire case. Ono is suspected of strangling Segawa and assisting in her death. There is also a post that reads, &#8216;There are now three of them,&#8217; so there may be other cases where he had a hand in the murder.
 However, it would be dangerous to believe the content of the tweets. Ono may have written false information. Even if Ms. Segawa had a desire to die, it is hard to imagine that she would ask a man more than 30 years her senior to do the job. How much of the message is true will be the focus going forward.&#8221;
