 I was very honored to be cast in director Shiraishi&#8217;s film on the occasion of my 20th appearance on &#8230;&#8230;, as I had hoped to return to my roots and play the lead in a WOWOW film someday.
 Actress Mayu Hotta (24) spoke with a sincere smile as she took the stage at the opening greeting for &#8220;Welcome to the Occult Forest THE MOVIE&#8221; at Shinjuku Piccadilly, Tokyo, on August 27.
 She was joined on stage by co-stars Kanki Iijima (26) and Miwako Kakei (28), and director Koji Shiraishi (49), who also appears in the film, and spoke about the behind-the-scenes filming and her favorite scenes.

 The film is a re-edited theatrical version of the WOWOW original drama, and is a unique ghost adventure depicting the horror experienced by a horror film crew who enter the &#8220;haunted forest,&#8221; which is connected to the other world, from a subjective point of view (POV). Hotta played the role of Ichikawa, an assistant director who is fond of saying, &#8220;I&#8217;m an assistant director, so I&#8217;m quick to judge.
 This is Hotta&#8217;s 20th film. He was deeply moved when he received the offer, as his debut film was a WOWOW film.
 As Hotta spoke of his feelings at the time, Director Shiraishi asked him, &#8220;But you didn&#8217;t expect this film to be like this, did you? Director Shiraishi asked Hotta, &#8220;But you didn&#8217;t expect it to be like this, did you?
 Hotta smiled and said, &#8220;Yes (laugh),&#8221; but he added, &#8220;But when I read the script, I couldn&#8217;t imagine it in a good way. I couldn&#8217;t imagine how it would turn out. Because it was unknown, I thought I would be able to meet a new side of myself. That&#8217;s why I decided to be in the film.

 Director Shiraishi seemed relieved to hear this and said, &#8220;I&#8217;m glad, because I thought I had mistakenly accepted an offer from WOWOW to do it.
 Hotta has been attracting a lot of attention since she played the role of Hina, the wife of Hojo Yoshitoki (Oguri Shun), in the NHK historical drama &#8220;Kamakuradono no 13-nin&#8221;. On August 8, it was announced that she will also appear in the live-action drama &#8220;Ooku&#8221; (NHK), based on the popular comic by Yoshinaga Fumi, and it seems that her breakthrough will continue.
 We can&#8217;t take our eyes off of her wide range of activities, from horror to period drama!
