Report on Komuro’s Mother’s Alleged Fraudulent Receipt of Survivor’s Pension
Kei Komuro, 30, who is set to marry Princess Mako, 29, is spending the waiting period for the new coronavirus at his parents’ home in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, after temporarily returning from New York.
“The biggest mission for Mr. Komuro will be the submission of the marriage certificate and the press conference scheduled for October 26. Before that, Mr. Komuro’s side is expected to communicate with Mr. X, his former fiancée, whose financial troubles with his mother, Kayo, have been shelved, in order to make arrangements for a solution.
Mr. X wanted to communicate directly with Ms. Kayo, but Ms. Kayo claims that she is in a state of physical and mental weakness and that it is difficult for her to communicate with him through letters, let alone visits. Therefore, it is possible that Mr. Komuro himself will sit in on the negotiations on behalf of his mother.
There was a dispute over whether the 4 million yen allegedly given by Mr. X to Ms. Kayo was a gift that she was not obligated to pay back or a loan that she was required to pay back. Since Mr. Komuro has already announced that he will pay a “settlement” to Mr. X’s side, there is no possibility of a resolution.
However, there is a suggestion that this may not be the case when it comes to the reports about the alleged fraudulent receipt of the survivor’s pension related to Mr. X.
“This issue was triggered by news reports about the suspicion that Kayo had concealed the fact that she was engaged to Mr. X and continued to receive the survivor’s pension benefits as the spouse of her deceased husband. After Kei’s father passed away, his wife, Kayo, was entitled to receive the survivor’s pension. But if she marries after that, she will lose the right to receive the survivor’s pension,” said a reporter for a national newspaper.
If it is a case of fraudulent receipt of benefits, she could be held criminally responsible. In fact, a criminal complaint for fraud has already been filed with the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office, along with other allegations.
“It is said that she and Mr. X had a de facto marriage relationship, but it is the level of that relationship that is being questioned. if they were living under the same roof as a married couple, they are not eligible to receive the survivor’s pension, which would be considered fraudulent receipt of benefits.
What does Kayo think about this?
“I’m not sure what’s wrong with that, but I don’t think I’ve done anything wrong. To be honest, I don’t think he understands why people are making a fuss about it. ……” (A source familiar with the situation of the Komuro family)
So, the factual marriage with Mr. X was not a real one, but a relationship similar to that of a stranger, which may mean that he was still eligible to receive the survivor’s pension. However, it is somewhat unnatural for her to receive about 4 million yen from a man with whom she had such a relationship.
A source familiar with the situation in the Komuro family continued, “Kayo has been doing everything right.
“Kayo is of the opinion that her son should do whatever he wants to do. Even so, she was very complimentary of Princess Mako. She said, ‘There is no one as pure as her. It’s a waste for my son. It seems that Kayo, who has loved Kei so much that it wouldn’t hurt to look him in the eye, went so far as to say that. Mako was also concerned about Kayo’s illness and often sent her e-mails, and I’m sure that Kayo really appreciated that kind of behavior.
On the other hand, what kind of feelings does Kayo have for Mr. and Mrs. Akishino?
It seems that her impressions of Mako are almost the exact opposite of theirs. “Every time the relationship with Mr. X and various suspicions surfaced, the couple demanded explanations from me, and I was quite exhausted, so I don’t have good feelings toward them. If there is this much of a gap between them, at least their parents will not be able to get along with each other, and it is unlikely that the two families will be able to get together with their grandchildren during the Bon and New Year holidays. …… From the way Kayo talked about it, that seems to have been the atmosphere.
It seems that Kei Komuro and Princess Mako will face difficulties even after their marriage.
