His completely unpretentious personality is probably another reason for Tetsu Okazaki’s popularity.

It was a little past noon in late March when a cold rain was pouring down, delaying the declaration of the start of the blooming season. Singer-songwriter Tetsu Okazaki, 34, was traveling with his manager at Haneda Airport in Tokyo with a carry-on case in tow.

He was wearing unseasonal half pants and a white shirt sticking out from under his sweatshirt. His aura was completely muted by his neighborhood style, and no one seemed to notice him, even though he is one of the most popular artists of our time.

Okazaki quit the company he joined after graduating from Doshisha University after only six months to become a professional musician.’ In May 2004, he made his major debut with the album “Basin Techno,” and the music video for the song “MUSIC VIDEO” included in the album became a hot topic. The video, in which Okazaki acts exactly as the lyrics suggest, won the “Newcomer’s Award in the Entertainment Division” at the 20th Japan Media Arts Festival the following year. It has been viewed approximately 48 million times (as of April 16).

In recent years, he has also expanded his activities as an actor, making his debut in last year’s NHK historical drama “Dousuru Ieyasu” (What to do, Ieyasu). However, just before the tour, on April 9, Okazaki apologized on his X (formerly Twitter) for causing confusion with information about the tour.

Okazaki said on X on April 8 about the live tour, “We are going to set up a kids’ area this time! You can bring your children to the live show without any worries! Please take this opportunity! Gather around! The unborn!” the announcement said. However, the concert itself did not allow preschool children to enter, causing confusion among fans. This caused confusion among fans.

Okazaki quickly corrected the situation, saying, “There was a problem with the term ‘kids’ area,’ etc. It was an area for elementary school students. The idea of having a kids’ area was a good one, so a little more attention to detail was needed.

Okazaki is popular with children, and many fans bring their families to live shows. His fashion sense is one thing, but the fact that he is quick to correct and apologize for his mistakes also shows his unpretentious personality.

We look forward to his spring live tour, which continues through June 2.
