We hit Gachapin (left) and Mukku, who had just finished filming a YouTube video. For a moment, they were surprised, but when I handed them a bouquet of flowers to celebrate their 50th anniversary, their smiles burst out!

Gachapin: Wow, what’s going on?

Mukku Don’t film me~!

–Friday. Gachapin, congratulations on your 50th birthday!

Gachapin: What a surprise! I thought you were here for a direct interview because Mukku found out that I ate all the watermelon you gave me without telling him.

Gachapin (5) and his friend Mukku (5) are loved by children for their trademark sleepy eyes and big front teeth. They are the characters from “Ponkicki” (Fuji Television Network, Inc.)! Ponkicki” (Fuji Television Network), and they continue to appear in the weather corner of the news program “Live News It! (Fuji TV) and on her own YouTube channel.

–The “Gachapin Challenge,” in which contestants try to win a highly difficult competition, was a popular corner of the “Ponkicki” series. Is there any project that left a lasting impression on you?

Gachapin: I think it would have to be free climbing. We had a lifeline, but it was really scary. ……

Mukku: When Gachapin slipped near the top, I thought my heart would stop too!

Gachapin: I also climbed a mountain in the Himalayas called Yala Peak, which is 5,520 meters high, but I got altitude sickness after reaching 4,000 meters and was about to give up. But I was able to make it to the summit because I knew I had to do my best for the sake of my team of nearly 20 people and Mukku who was waiting for me in Japan!

Mukku When you say that, I get embarrassed and my face turns red!

Gachapin I was surprised when he didn’t follow me because he’s a snow man and it’s cold in the Himalayas. ……

Whenever I try my hand at horseback archery or figure skating, I get to practice with the athletes beforehand. I am athletically inclined, but I spent more than a month preparing for mountain climbing and skating, including physical training, and I am very grateful to everyone who helped me.

Mook, as expected of the uncompromising dinosaur, Gachapin! You are an adult even though you are 5 years old.

–What kind of challenges do you want to take on in the future?

Gachapin: In addition to my specialty sports, I will continue to take on exciting challenges. Recently, I challenged myself to a trampoline performance with the members of Cirque du Soleil’s “Alegria,” the world’s top circus group.

Mook: I am also taking on the challenge of playing the piano, drums, and other musical instruments.

Gachapin I hope we can continue to take on many challenges together and cheer up our friends (fans)!

Gachapin’s 50th Birthday! A collection of memorable challenges!

Climbing the Himalayas: “I shouted ‘yoo-hoo’ at the top! (He climbed to the summit after practicing for more than a month at a facility where he could train at high altitudes. He also mastered the use of ice axes and crampons.
Parasailing: “I felt like a bird! (I chose the more difficult method of flying directly from the beach. The exhilaration was one of the most exhilarating challenges he has ever faced.
Snowboard Cross] “I can handle the snowy mountains! (Although he says he doesn’t like the cold, he proved that he can adapt to snowy mountains as well as dinosaurs by showing sharp turns that put him on par with the pros.
Scuba Diving] “The shark was huge! There are so many rare creatures! (Gachapin), but he was also quoted as saying that the most unusual creature was Gachapin.
Gachapin successfully drifted not only in a two-wheeled vehicle but also in a racing car.
The horse was a good boy (Gachapin).” He met his partner named “Suruga” and hit the target on both of the two arrows that he tried. The fact that he didn’t look at the target at all when releasing the arrow was also a topic of conversation.
Ski Jumping] “I wanted to exceed the K-point! (After practicing hard in the extreme cold, he succeeded in making a huge jump of 28 meters in the actual event. His “V-shape” form during the glide is also looking good.
The most difficult part was the hanging ring! (This was one of the toughest challenges for him. He said, “It was hard to support my body with short arms, and my muscles were sore.
Free Climbing] “I was scared to climb with only one lifeline… (Gachapin)” He took on the steep slope of Mitsutoge Mountain in Yamanashi Prefecture. I think now that it was a good experience before climbing the Himalayas.
Figure Skating: “I decided to do the Ina Bauer! (Gachapin)” To the tune of “Turandot,” she then successfully performed the Inabauer. I scraped my knee many times in practice.”
Good night……Gachapin lies down quietly after the interview, as if he needs a nap after a hard day’s work like a 5-year-old boy.
