<p><strong>This is a series of short articles looking back at the greatest hit manga that have reached their conclusion this year. <p> Koi to Lie&#8221; is a romance manga serialized on the manga app &#8220;Manga Box&#8221; from August 2014 to January 2022. In 2017, an animated TV series and a live-action movie were released in rapid succession. <p> The main character is Yukari Nejima, an ordinary first-year high school student. He has an unusual hobby: he loves ancient tombs, and is secretly in love with Misaki Takasaki, the madonna of his class. On the day before his 16th birthday, Yukari decides to tell Misaki how he feels about her. When she finishes her confession, Misaki unexpectedly replies, &#8220;I&#8217;ve always loved you, too!　At that moment, however, Yukari&#8217;s cell phone rings eerily. In fact, free love is forbidden in this world due to the &#8220;Yukari Law,&#8221; commonly known as the &#8220;Yukari Law,&#8221; in which the government determines marriage partners as part of measures to combat the declining birthrate.</p>
<p> The &#8220;government notice&#8221; is for Ririna Sanada, a beautiful young lady with twin-tail hair who is one year older than Yukari. The love story also involves Yusuke Nisaka, a handsome classmate who has feelings for Yukari, making this a unique romance for a boys&#8217; manga.</p>

<p> The best part is the &#8220;extreme purity&#8221; of the story. The story of these four innocents is sometimes daring, sometimes frustrating, and keeps you on the edge of your seat with every turn of the page. What man can say no to the madonna of his class when she asks him in a park late at night, just the two of them, &#8220;My &#8216;like&#8217; is&#8230; &#8216;like&#8217; in the sense that I want to kiss you&#8230; and do all sorts of other things with you&#8230;&#8221;?</p>
<p> Furthermore, all four of them do not try to interfere with the love lives of others. For example, Misaki and Ririna, who are best friends and romantic rivals, may back out on their own because they &#8220;don&#8217;t want to hurt their friends,&#8221; but they never try to trick the other. In other words, they are completely devoid of any kind of calculating or bargaining in their relationships. Therefore, within the rules set by the adults, the purity of the four who are simply facing their feelings of &#8220;love&#8221; in a straightforward manner stands out, and we can honestly cheer their attitude.</p>

<p> Due to the popularity of each of the characters, the company took a step that is highly unusual in the manga world. The final 12 volumes of the series were released in two versions, one featuring Misaki and the other featuring Ririna. In addition, the three routes, including Nisaka&#8217;s, were presented in a reading performance in November of this year, attracting much attention.</p>
<p> This is an ensemble coming-of-age drama about boys and girls tossed around in love. It is a romance manga that adults should read even if they are adults. &#8230;&#8230;</p>
